Bill C-36 became law in Canada on December 16, 2010 and this legislation is known as the Consumer Protection Act. What is not publicized about Bill C36 is what many consider dangerous; this law abolishes the law of trespass; and this according to constitutional lawyer Shawn Buckley, “is very dangerous.”
Anti-C36 Rally Organizer
Terry Wilson, founder of the Canadian Awareness Network, organized the January 8 rally after learning that Bill C36 passed. In an interview with Suite101, Wilson stated, “It totally undermines what once was the rule of law for this country. Health Canada inspectors can search and seize without warrant, and hold property for as long as they see fit.” He stresses that this is, “a direct violation of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.”
Shawn Buckley stated that not only does Health Canada have sweeping powers to search and seize property without a warrant, but they also have the power to store seized property for as long as they feel necessary and charge storage fees to the business they raided.
